Watch Serenity and help a good cause

by RickMacMerc (Site News)

Hey Spoiler fans! We got an interesting note in the mailbag today (much from which I will be copying and pasting right here) about some special theatrical screenings of Serenity across 6 countries in the next few days. Fellow fans are relaunching the movie to theatres to benefit Equality Now (a gender equality charity) and other charities. Which is a move, by the way, has never happened before in the history of cinema.

One theatre has already screened the movie -- in Ann Arbor -- and made over $1600. 46 more theatres are to follow within the next week worldwide.

Raiders of the Lost Ark: Spoilers Podcast 006 (NTSC)

by RickMacMerc (Podcasts NTSC)

We are back!!

After a prolonged absence brought on by the 10 Plagues of the Spoilers. Bill and I have returned with another commentary: Raiders of the Lost Ark, the 1981 Spielberg blockbuster classic starring Harrison Ford and Karen Allen that started the Indiana Jones trilogy... or "quadrilogy" if they ever get Indy 4 going.

Joining us this time is the recently Slashdotted singer/songwriter Jonathan Coulton, famous for his cover of Baby Got Back and, recently, Code Monkey. We take an exploratory look at Raiders as a movie the three of us grew up with pointing out actors who have gone on to bigger careers, bloopers and errors and other bits of trivia.

After you're finished listening to our illuminating discourse, you'll want to visit the Spoilers Swag Shop where we have just added a Top Secret T-Shirt.

New shirts in the Spoilers Shop

by RickMacMerc (Site News)

In addition to our original "stop kicking my seat" Spoilers Shirt, we have added several new items. Sticking with the seat kicking theme we have a new radioactive glow in the dark variation of our popular shirt that will get the message across after the lights have gone down and the curtain has opened.

Some are based on the films we have "spoiled," like the previously announced "Wash dies" Spoiler Shirt, the "Leave it to Reaver" Shirt (both from the Serenity commentary) and the WarGames inspired "20 Grand Palace" Shirt.

Lastly, we have given you the chance to make your own Spoilers Shirt with the "Spoil it Yourself" Shirt. Just plug in the secret plot twist form your favorite movie and make your own one of a kind Spoilers T-Shirt.

Check out these and more in the Spoilers Swag Store.

New Serenity themed Spoilers shirt on sale now!

by RickMacMerc (Site News)

For months prior to its release, Browncoats privileged enough to have caught a preview screening of Serenity kept quiet about the shocking events depicted in the film.

But now, a month after the release of the DVD, all bets are off and now we can scream the details of the film from the rooftops and discuss them in detail. Heck, we can even wear a spoiler for all to see.

If you haven't seen the film by now and don't want to know what happens in it, going to a site called "The Spoilers" may not have been the wisest move on your part. The news is out.

Serenity: Spoilers Podcast 005

by RickMacMerc (Podcasts NTSC)

We're back! We've got a brand new commentary waiting for you to sync up and enjoy--Joss Whedon's Serenity!

The Spoilers, as always, is hosted by Rick Yaeger and Bill Douthett but we had the privilege and the pleasure of having the hosts of The Signal, Les Howard and Kari Haley, join us and offer their unique perspective and experience to the show.

The Signal is a very popular fan created podcast that was originally started to spread awareness of the movie Serenity while it was still in production. The podcast became so successful, though, that they are preparing a second season of programming even though the film has come out, left the theaters and been released to DVD--the popularity of the Firefly 'Verse is a powerful thing.

For you fans of Firefly and Serenity, we hope you will give your copy of the Serenity DVD another viewing while listening to this commentary. But our greatest wish is that those who have never seen the TV series or the movie will be encouraged to to so and allow us to come along for the ride the second time you watch what us Browncoats affectionately call "The Big Damn Movie".

Note: Our new Serenity themed Spoilers shirt, mentioned in the commentary, is now on sale.
Also, an additional copy of our commentary that has being reprocessed to synchronize with the Region 2 DVD is now available.

We assure you, we're open.

Okay. It has been a while since our last Spoilers Weekly and even longer since our last commentary. But we are not through yet. We have many more commentaries in mind for the new year. Please refer to our Coming Attractions page to see what we've got in mind and let us know if you have any comments, trivia or suggestions for the shows we have planned.

Thank you for all your support this year, seatkickers! We'll be back to spoil new movies as soon as we can.

Wilma recovery taking a little longer than expected

by RickMacMerc (Site News)

Unfortunately, there will be no Spoilers Weekly this week either. Bill Douthett, the technically gifted half of the Spoilers team, is without power and internet access after having weathered hurricane Wilma last week. Bill is unharmed, but until such time as he can find power for the studio, there is no show. We will hopefully be back next week, but there is currently no reliable estimate for the restoration of services necessary to produce the show, so we'll just have to wait and see.

The Spoilers have to take this week off from DVD reporting, but we wanted
to make sure you got our list of recommendations we had planned to talk about.
We'll be back next Sunday with our weekly review of new DVDs, and of course
we're still working on new commentaries for you, including: The Planet of the
Apes (1969), Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and The Princess

a line at spoilermail@spoilermail.com.

In the mean time, follow the "read me" for this week's hot DVDs, and links
